Healthy Hair Tips That Actually Work
|Depending upon the density of hair that a person is genetically bestowed with, a person naturally loses about 100 to 130 strands of hair per day, at an average. Stop worrying about hair fall and follow these effective hair care tips to turn your precious hair healthier, shinier and thicker:
- Hair massage
Hair oiling is the most potent way to give external nutrition to your hair strands. Regular massaging with castor oil or coconut oil also helps oxygen to reach your hair follicles, which in turn, strengthens hair roots and promotes hair growth. On every fortnight, take a portion of your favourite traditional oil (or ayurvedic oil), warm it up, and slowly massage it, starting from the nape to the hair roots.
- Cleansing & Conditioning
You definitely cannot carry all that sticky oil to your workplace or at college! So, keeping your hair clean and tidy is a must. The best way to cleanse your hair is by using Reetha (Soapnut). Follow it up with Shikakai (or, Soap Acacia, which actually works like a conditioner). Both these stuffs are available at any general grocery store. However, if you have a shortage of time, use a shampoo and a conditioner that has the minimum amount of sodium lauryl sulphate. You can also use a rose water plus an olive oil mixture to condition your hair.
- Hair Maintenance
For general hair maintenance you must follow these steps:
- Trim your hair for at least 0.25 inches, every 2 months, to get rid of split ends.
- Instead of using popular branded serums, make use of a nature- friendly serum to add lustre and shine to your hair – Add 2-3 drops of coconut/almond/lavender/yashtimadhu (liquorice)/amla essential oil in a 100ml spray can and use it as a serum daily.
- Also, do not forget to apply a nature infused hair masque (like egg), on a weekly basis, to your hair.
- Hair growth
If you have severe hair fall, then it’s probably high time to get it checked by a dermatologist. You must know that, a daily portion of Biotin, Amla (Indian gooseberry) and green leafy veggies in your diet, is a miraculous boon for your hair. For those who are in the first stage of alopecia, applying Rogaine or Minoxidil might help them (though you must use them with caution) to restore their falling hair.
